thoughts and ideas

Being a stay-at-home mom is a lot of fun. It's a lot of work too, but mostly fun. :) I was talking to another stay-at-home mom one day and we were saying how most people think we are lucky because we get to be at home. The truth is, for people like us, it has nothing to do with luck. It's all about sacrifice. To be honest, we live pay check to pay check, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. A little extra money on the side would be nice, but I know God is teaching me lots of lessons on my spending habits. The main lesson being, don't spend money. lol

Bryan gets bored a lot and getting out and about is always fun, but there is always the temptation to spend money.

So, this is where I need all of your input :) What can I do with Bryan to help keep him entertained during the day? He's bored with coloring. Playing outside is always fun, but we haven't done as much of it because it was so hot. Thankfully it's cooling off now. I'm kind of stuck. How do (or did) you keep your toddlers entertained? If you don't have kids I know you still have ideas! I can't wait to see what you all say!

hey this is gina. Have you found a public library in your area? I have taken Aubrey up to ours once. It has a kids section that has toys, books, computers, etc. It's usually free to go to. I don't know maybe this will help.

gina-great idea! i haven't thought about the library. we took him to barnes and noble one day and had to pry him off the toys to get him to leave. lol

I am searching for ideas myself. It is very challenging to be a stay at home mom. So I totally feel ya!

One thing that I used to do with my 3 year old class. We would put shaving cream all over a table and let them spread it out with their hands to make it all smooth. Then I would have them draw their ABC's or numbers in it with their fingers. Its a bit messy, but the kids LOVE it and had a blast doing it. And the shaving cream is very easy to clean up if it gets on clothing or on the carpet. :)

I used to do the shaving cream thing to when I worked with kids, I would do it in the afternoon after they played outside, they had fun, and smelled all clean and fresh for their mommy's when they picked them up. The kids loved it.

ahh, gina stole my idea. our library often has readers for the kids during the summer. maybe a larger one would have something year-round. if not, the free (and different!) books and movies are always nice! for you and b! :-)

Yep- The library! We actually have storytime at our library, and the lady dresses up as the characters in the book. The daycare Grant goes to now goes there sometimes! Also, what about a public playground? It would be outside, but a different setting for him!!

Gina is right, check your local library and I used to take Judson to story time once a week and then they would do a little craft.
