A Fantastic New Chat Client

Just came across a new chat client today that I LOVE. It's better than Pidgin and Meebo. It's Digsby! I'm using it for AOL, MSN, Yahoo, GTalk, and ICQ accounts, it's also checking my GMail, Yahoo Mail, MSN mail, and AOL Mail accounts, AND it's keeping track of my Twitter and Facebook profiles. *whew*

Love it. They have a Windows, a Mac, and a Linux client. Go check it out.

Last Blog Post in Albany...

This could very well be our last post while still in Albany, since I'm about to shut the computer down and pack it up. Jamie may do some small posts via her iPhone, but those don't count!

On a side note, I've recently started really using Twitter and Pownce and am even updating my Facebook status via Twitter. Since I'm using both of these, and I'd rather type in 1 status update than 2 or 3, I've found Hellotxt, which allows me to type in 1 status update and have it sent to multiple places (including some services I don't use like Jaiku, Plaxo, and Tumblr). It works very well!

If you're using Twitter or Pownce, add me as a friend!

Twitter and Meebo

I've just added a couple of "widgets" in our sidebar. They're below all the archives on the right. One is a Meebo Me! widget and the other gives you my latest updates from Twitter.

I posted a while ago about Meebo, which is a fantastic web-based chat client that connects you to AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, GTalk, ICQ, and a couple of other chat accounts all at once.

Twitter is a micro-blogging service that allows me to quickly post updates via IM or even cell phone text messages about what I'm doing during the day.

I know, geektastic, right?

This video proves that people have way too much free time.

Oops

Our apologies to anyone who tried to get to our website today and saw a generic Network Solutions page. That's my bad. I was supposed to renew our domain name and forgot, so it technically expired today. All should be well for at least another year now.

What's in a Name?

This website has had a decided lack of geek lately, so I'm here to remedy that situation!

My elf name is Aranel Sáralondë

My hobbitt name is Wilibald Burrows

My ninja name is Makoto the Black Ninja

My pirate name is Mad Blackbeard

What are your names?

Excuse our mess...

Don't be surprised if you can't see pictures on our website for a little bit, we're working on moving our hosting around and we may lose some picture links. I'll be working on fixing this as time allows. On a side note, we're moving all our stuff over to google, which has a lot of cool stuff you can do with your own domain like customized gmail, calendars, start pages, etc.

Inside a Working Hard Drive

Never try this at home, by the way. You can pretty much guarantee that the drive will be trashed when you're done.

Soccer?!

Yep that's right. Soccer. I'm officially a fan now. I just watched D.C. United beat David Beckham and the L.A. Galaxy tonight 1-0 on ESPN2. I've even got a D.C. United wallpaper on my laptop now.

Ubuntu anyone?

If anyone's reading this and has an older computer around that you think may be on it's last legs, I urge you to dive headfirst into Ubuntu. It's a linux distribution built for the average user and you really can pick it up and get started without being a geek. If you're feeling adventurous, go download a CD image or request one to be shipped to you. So what's the best part? It's FREE. That's right, no cost. Some of the biggest companies in the world are already using Linux, shouldn't you see what all the fuss is about? Oh, and here's a few resources for the Linux newbs:
