I'm so ticked about the BCS system right now. Yes I believe LSU deserves to play for the title. They should be playing Oklahoma though. Ohio State benefits from a creampuff schedule and no conference championship game. Why oh why can't we do an 8 team playoff system? Here's how it should be going down this year:
Cotton Bowl: Kansas (8) vs Ohio State (1)
Sugar Bowl: USC (7) vs LSU (2)
Orange Bowl: Missouri (6) vs Virginia Tech (3)
Gator Bowl: Georgia (5) vs Oklahoma (4)
Rose Bowl: Cotton vs Sugar Winners
Fiesta Bowl: Orange vs Gator Winners
True Championship: Rose vs Fiesta Winners
The regular season still counts because you have to do well enough to get into the top 8. The Bowls are still played and would generate even more attention because of the playoff system. For example, LSU and USC fans would be watching the Ohio State Kansas game much closer because that's who they might play in the Rose Bowl next week. With this system we'd get a true national chamption. Please NCAA, make it so!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Yes, I unashamedly admit that I'm a Harry Potter fan. I've read the first few books several times now, rereading the series as The Order of the Phoenix, and The Half-Blood Prince came out, and again for The Deathly Hallows. I can honestly say that it's one of the best series I've ever read, right up there (for me anyway) with The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and The Chronicles of Narnia. I commend J.K. Rowling for spinning a wonderful tale of good vs. evil and making you thoroughly fall in love with a great variety of well-rounded characters, indeed with an entire universe. If you've not read the Harry Potter series, don't miss out on some great literature because you think they're childrens' books. They're very well written and thoroughly enjoyable by child and adult alike. Also, if you're a Christian, I beseech you to not believe all the bad press that the Harry Potter series has received from Christian media. At the end of the day, it's fantasy, and it's a classic struggle of good vs. evil in which good must eventually triumph. I almost find myself wishing I'd forget a lot of the story, just so I can go back and reread the entire series yet again! So, from one muggle to another, give Harry Potter a chance. You won't be sorry you did.

The Ultimate Love
John 15:13-Greater love has no one than this, that he lay his life down for his friends.
I've had this scripture on my mind today. Now, that is the ultimate LOVE! I love Matt, but I can never love him like Christ loves me. He loves all of us...our yucky ole sinner selves...so much that He DIED to save us! We definitely need to remember that daily, but what a great reminder on this day of LOVE that Hallmark created!

Merry Christmas?
I'm beginning to think it's not so merry. My grandfather passed away last night after battling heart disease, failing kidneys, and leukemia. Then I find out just moments ago that a very close friend's father passed away this afternoon from the cancer he'd been fighting for a while now. How odd to be thinking of mortality when everyone else is thinking about birth. That's what Christmas is supposed to be about, beginnings. A celebration of the birth of a Savior. Yet somehow it's fitting to consider death in the midst of all the merriment. Jesus was born to die for us, that we may be free. I know beyond a shadow of doubt that my grandfather, C.W. Davidson, and my close friend Ed Wosotowsky are both with Jesus right now, both free from their pain, as the whole world celebrates his birthday.
Remember as you celebrate this joyous season that the baby in a manger grew up to hang on a cross, paying the ultimate price for our sin that we may be free.
Merry Christmas †
