Summer Reading

**UPDATE** I finished all of the Firstborn Series by Karen Kingsbury and have started the first book from the next series...Sunrise. They are all good, but I kinda feel like they are dragging on and on!

Many of you know that I was NOT a reader. I used to like reading before it was required in Middle School! :) HA! Anyway, over the last couple of years I discovered a few books that I LOVE! Mom had a few books by Francine Rivers that I picked up and I fell in love with her writing. More than that, I fell in love with the characters. Here are a few that I highly recommend by her:

  • Redeeming Love
    • Let me just say that I cried throughout most of this book! This book, as well as all the rest I'm going to recommend, will make you take a survey of your relationship with Christ. This book is so good it has it's own website! :)

  • Mark of the Lion Series
    • Talk about characters! You will fall in love with Hadassah and wish you had her faith. These are 3 of my all time favorite books.
There is one more of hers that I am going to read this summer, hopefully. It's called the Atonment Child.

In the last 3 weeks I have read 7 books! I CAN'T believe that! If you came to our house you would know that I've been doing something besides cleaning! :)

The books have been:

  • Dreamers by Angela Hunt
    • I would like to read several more of hers.
  • The Redemption Series by Karen Kingsbury
    • There are 5 books in this series...Redemption, Remember, Return, Rejoice, & Reunion
  • The Firstborn Series by Karen Kingsbury
    • There are 5 books in this one as well. I've only read the first one. They are: Fame, Forgiven, Found, Family, & Forever
Both of these series involve the same people. There is another series that she is working on to follow these called the Sunrise Series! I have a lot more reading to do!! :)

Let me know what your favorite books are or if you've read any of these. I'd love to know your thoughts!

Thanks for the good book list! I am always looking for good books to read. I haven't read much in about a year, although I would like to have a good book in the works. I may try THe Last Sin Eater - sounds interesting. Redeeming Love is one of my FAVORITES!! Also, Sophie's Heart has to be up there as well for christian romantic fiction. Have you read the O'Mally series by Dee Henderson? More christian mystery. THey are GREAT!! I love them. Also, A Lineage of Grace by Francine Rivers is a good group of books about the women in Jesus' lineage. They are fiction, but taken from facts from the bible. Great blog! I will have to keep this one postmarked to refer back to when I need another good book :) Hope all is well!

Steph...thanks for the input! :) I did read Sophie's Heart and loved it! I forgot about that one! :)

I haven't read the O'Mally series, but I will add that to my list. Also the others by Francine Rivers that you mentioned! We are going to have to go to the library! No way we can afford to buy all the books I want to read! ha!

Jamie- I have read just about every one that you menitoned and they are some of the most incredible books on the market. Francine Rivers definitely writes with the Holy Spirit's marking. Redeeming Love is one of my all time favorites. Steph-the last Sin Eater is a must read. It is an incredible book of God's redemption. I have to agree with Steph that Francine's Lineage of Grace series should be your next pick. They are amazing to read and I haven't finished them all. If you like more fun chick-let books then Kristine Bellerbeck is a great author. She has a Spa girls series that is a fun read-nothing hard. Let's see and Lori Wick is always a fun author as well, again really light reading but fun. This was a good post!

I know it's an old post, but I thought I remembered you reading these...
I am about two-thirds of the way through the first Mark of the Lion book, and I am HOOKED!! I don't want to put it down. I find myself saying...okay when I get to the end of this chapter, I'm going to go fold a load of laundry...then I can read some more!!! A friend loaned me the set, and I just peeked and saw that the trilogy carries on with the same characters. I'm not going to get much accomplished this summer, am I?!?!?!?
